Ⅰ. General Introduction

Founded in 1973, Henan Polytechnic Institute（HPI）has successively been subordinate to the former Ministry of the State Fifth Machinery Industry, the Machinery Industry Commission, the Ministry of Machinery and Electronics Industry, China North Industries Group Corporation, the People’s Government of Henan Province, and now is under the unified administration of the Education Working Committee of the provincial Party committee and the Education Department Henan Province. Until now HPI has been the only higher vocational college under the Administration of Science, Technology and Industry system for National Defence of Henan Province, and has been assessed as an “Excellent College” for talents cultivation by the Ministry of Education. Meanwhile, it has been awarded the first units piloting modern apprenticeship of the Ministry of Education and National Vocational College Piloting Teaching Diagnosis and Improvement, National Backbone Vocational Institute, National High-quality Vocational College, as well as the program of “High-level Vocational College and Specialties with Chinese Characteristics”.

HPI is located in the national historical and cultural city-- Nanyang, covering a total area of 2137.01 mu. There are four campuses including three on the Kongming Road, Guangwu Road, Wenhua Road and the East Campus, with more than 20,000 students. It covers a total area of 687,200 square meters, with fixed assets worth 890 million yuan, which includes the teaching and research equipment worth 320 million yuan. Besides, it has 3 training bases supported by the central finance, 2 productive training bases, 2 collaborative innovation bases, 1 vocational education demonstrative virtual simulation training base, 2 provincial production training bases, 3 demonstrative training bases, 2 demonstrative comprehensive training bases and 2 demonstrative virtual simulation training bases, provincial-level engineering laboratories and 7 engineering technology research centers.

HPI has 13 educational schools covering 8 different fields and 61 majors, including Machinery Manufacturing, Automatic Control, Electronic Information, Architectural Engineering, Transportation, Environmental Engineering, Economics and Business, Cultural Tourism. Among them there are 18 national key specialties, 16 provincial key specialties, and 4 undergraduate majors jointly offered by Henan University of Science and Technology. HPI has formed a major system with engineering majors as the main body, machinery, electricity and construction majors as the focus, and military industry majors as the characteristics, and it pursues management, economics and liberal arts.

HPI now has more than 1000 full-time teachers, 1 national teaching team, 2 national innovative teaching teams of vocational education, 1 national teaching team featuring Huang Danian, 2 national teaching teams providing moral education curriculum, 3 national Party branch models. Among the faculty, 116 teachers have been awarded national or provincial titles, including the State Council Special Allowance winner, the National or Provincial Technical Expert, Provincial Government Special Allowance winner, Provincial High-level Talent, Provincial Vocational Education Expert, Famous Teachers of Henan Province, Provincial Teaching Model, Provincial Outstanding Teacher, Provincial Skilled Master, Academic and Technical Leader of Henan Province, National Labor Medal winner, etc.

To cultivate high-quality technical talents, HPI focuses on both moral and technical training and emphasizes the work-integrated learning. In recent years, its students have won more than 1,000 national awards in the National Vocational College Skills Competition. The employment rate of its graduates has remained above 98% for years. Committed to the integration of production and education, HPI has jointly work with related enterprises and set up 9 industrial colleges led by Kunpeng Industrial College. Meanwhile, it has taken the lead in establishing the first batch of national demonstrative vocational education groups--Henan  Higher Vocational Education Group of National Defense Technology and Industry, and the backbone Vocational Education Group of Henan Mechanical and Electrical Equipment and Automation. Furthermore, it has also established cooperation with countries and colleges along the “Belt and Road” Initiative. To promote international education, HPI has successfully built several “Zhang Heng Colleges” as branch schools in South Africa and other countries and welcomed more than 100 international students to study here.

In recent years, HPI has been awarded many prizes and honorary titles, such as: National Vocational Education Advanced Unit, National Employment Advanced Unit, Outstanding College with Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award, Outstanding Contribution Award of National Technical Talents Cultivation, the Top 50 of National Vocational College Internship Management and Teaching resources. In 2021 it has been on the four top lists in the annual report on the quality of vocational education in China. In the future, HPI will continue its firm footing in Henan to serve the society on a national base especially relying on military industry. Moreover, around the provincial strategic conceptions of “Two Guarantees” and “Ten strategies” and the need of making Nanyang one sub-central city in Henan province, it will strive to run satisfactory higher vocational education in the new era so as to actively serve the national strategies of military-civilian integrated development, manufacturing power building, rural revitalization and the “Belt and Road” Initiative.

1. Education Background

The applicants should be high school graduates or equivalents.

2. Other Requirements

The applicants should be non-Chinese citizens with the age between 18 and 30, or the applicants who are under the age of 18 should submit a power of attorney for affairs or a power of attorney for guardian in China.

IV. Application Materials

1. High School Diploma

The high school graduates should issue a pre-graduation verification from their school. If admitted, they should bring the original high school diploma for verification at the time of registration. Applicants who don’t have a high school diploma should submit certificates or proof of their academic equivalency.

3. Chinese proficiency or English proficiency certificate or equivalent language proficiency certificate

4. Copy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (The original should be kept by the applicant.)

This form is uniformly printed by the Health and Quarantine Department of China. It must be completed in English.The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the photo of the applicant, or the photos without the paging seals, or forms without the signature of the attending physician and the hospital will be considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

All certificates or supporting materials in languages other than Chinese and English shall be notarized in Chinese or English, and the notarized materials shall be provided by Chinese diplomatic missions in foreign countries or foreign diplomatic and consular missions in China.  ( Only materials notarized within the last 6 months are accepted.)

Ⅴ. Application and Admission

1. The Applicants fill in the Application Form for Foreign Students to HPI.

2. Applicants scan all admission application materials and save them in PDF format.

3. Applicants send scanned copies of application materials to jiangzhihao@hnpi.edu.cn before July 1, 2023.

4. The school issues the admission letter and Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China (JW202 Form) to the qualified applicants.

5. The admitted students apply for entry study (X1) visa at Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad with ordinary passport, Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Foreign Students in China and complete the registration on time.

Scholarship type: Full Scholarship (10000 CNY/Person/Year)

2. Excellent International Student Scholarship

First-class: 5000 CNY/Person, accounts 10% of the total number of international students. 

Second-class: 3000 CNY/Person, accounts 20% of the total number of international students. 

Third-class: 2000 CNY/Person, accounts 20% of the total number of international students.

3. Individual Scholarship

Individual Scholarship includes the Learning Progress Award, HSK Award, Admissions Award, Outstanding Student Leader Award, and the scholarship amounts to 500 CNY/Person.
