Notice on Hosting the Qualifier and Final of the 6th Chinese Classics Reading Contest

To all teaching units:

According to the organization and implementation plan of the 6th Chinese Classics Reading Contest, and taking into account the preliminary selection of each teaching unit, it is now decided that the Qualifier of the 6th Chinese Classics Reading Contest will be held on May 28 (Tuesday), and the Final will be held on June 4 (Tuesday). The details of the competition are hereby specified as follows:

I. Qualifier

1. Time: 14:00-17:00, May 28

2. Location: Conference Room, 1st Floor, Office Building, Kongming Road Campus

3. Participants: Participants of Students Group Only

II. Final

1. Time: 15:00-15:30, June 4 (Teachers Group)

15:30-18:00, June 4 (Students Group)

2. Location: Room T1226, Library, Kongming Road Campus

3. Participants: All finalists and some representatives of teachers and students

The Mandarin should be articulated with standard pronunciation, clarity, and precision. The language is vivid, with the tone, pitch, volume, and rhythm that are full of variation, appropriately match the content of the recitation with the right emphasis and cadence, and can express emotions and meanings accurately and appropriately, pleasing to the ear, and engaging to listen to.

Posture and Facial Expression

Posture, movements, gestures, facial expressions and eye contact can convey the content and emotional thoughts of the recitation accurately, vividly, naturally and expressively, which can further create an appropriate atmosphere and enhance the expression effect.

The recitation is infectious, excellent in voice and affection, rich in charm and expressiveness, and capable of evoking emotional resonance with the listeners.

If participants can recite without scripts, an additional 5 scores may be awarded.

IV. Competition Awards

Based on the final results, the first, second, and third prizes will be awarded to each group.

V. Relevant Requirements

1. Participants from both groups must join the Competition Draw in Room 1411, Office Building, at 15:00 on May 27. Failure to participate in the Competition Draw will be considered an automatic withdrawal.

2. All teaching units must promptly notify the participating teachers and students to arrive at the competition site 15 minutes in advance.

This event is hosted by the Academic Affairs Office and organized by the Teaching Department of Basic Sciences.
