On July 6, 2023, our School of Construction Engineering conducted a “Construction Site Safety Education” training for foreign employees at the Saudi Guardian Project Department of Henan Province Installation Group Co., Ltd.
Guardian Glass Group is one of the world’s four major glass manufacturing companies. In recent years, the construction industry in the Arabian Gulf region has thrived, significantly boosting the demand for flat glass and high-value-added glass products. The Saudi Guardian glass production line upgrade and renovation project, undertaken by Henan Province Installation Group Co., Ltd., will greatly enhance Guardian Glass Group’s production capacity to meet regional development needs. During construction, the project department fully utilized new technologies and techniques, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) and prefabrication, significantly improving production efficiency. The prefabrication rates for specialized components such as ducts and steel structures have reached 80%, enabling the implementation of modular construction and significantly enhancing construction quality.
This training primarily targeted foreign technical workers on engineering projects. It utilized “virtual simulation + bilingual (Chinese and foreign languages) + online remote” methods to conduct construction site safety education training, solving communication problems such as difficulty in understanding visual and verbal instructions faced by foreign technical workers during training sessions. The School of Construction Engineering, relying on the technical advantages of a national-level virtual simulation training base, used virtual simulation technology to construct construction site safety education scenarios that are “visual, experiential, easy to understand, and bilingual (Chinese and foreign languages)”, making safety education training more intuitive and vivid and significantly enhancing the training effectiveness.
The School of Construction Engineering actively expanded international cooperation and exchange channels with Henan Province Installation Group Co., Ltd. They used BIM technology as a starting point to develop diverse virtual simulation training resources, helping enterprises train local technical personnel for overseas projects. The School of Construction Engineering is comprehensively deepening cooperation with “going global” enterprises, and expanding the breadth and depth of technical cooperation and exchanges. Its goal is to establish a school-enterprise cooperation community serving the Belt and Road Initiative, strive to develop international cooperation platforms, and collectively create a brilliant showcase for China’s construction achievements.
